20 Different Snowflakes

20 Different Snowflakes

These are 20 different snowflakes for 20 innocent children.  The snowflakes are going to the new Sandy Elementary School in Connecticut.  All of the snowflakes were done in size 20 crochet thread.  They were all done by Christmas Eve, evening.  I was hoping to get them sent out by Christmas Eve, but will have to wait until the day-after Christmas.

Patterns:  "Snowflake 2" by Sharon, "Stella di Edda Schneider" by Edda Schneider, "Rosie" by Lyn Morton,  "Motif #13" by Teiko Fujito, "Elmo's Snowflake" by Heather's Designs, "Hearts in a Snowflake" by Jon, "Tatter's Round Robin for Beginners" by Georgia Seitz, "Shamrock" by Lyn Morton, "Triangular Medallian" by Lisa Trumble, "#'s 10, 11,19, 21, 30" by Myral Piper...her book is called Tatting, "Trefoil Snowflake, Tiny Snowflake, Whirlaway Snowflake, Feathery Snowflake, and Simple Snowflake" by Vida Sunderman, and one I started out wrong and improvised.

Snowflakes for elementary school Sandy Hook:
Lets make as many snowflakes and send out by 12 Jan:  they can be tatted, crocheted, knitted, beaded, woodworking, etc..
This was a tragic event.  Please help out.  Here is a link to my pinterest page on tatted snow flake patterns:  http://pinterest.com/sandhollowgems/tatting-patterns-motifs-snowflakes/

Welcome Students to a Winter Wonderland
When school resumes for Sandy Hook, it will be in a new building. Parent-volunteers are working to ensure that the students are welcomed back by a winter wonderland with the entire school decorated with as many unique snowflakes as possible. We encourage senders to be as creative as possible, remembering that no two snowflakes are alike. Please make and send snowflakes by January 12, 2013 to the Connecticut PTSA address at the bottom of this page.

This was a clip earring, I found at an antique show.  The pendent was done in Lizbeth, size 20, antique purple medium.   It measures 1 1/2 X 2" and is one of my favorites.  I left a gap, in the tatting to show off the large pearl.

Falling Sunflower

This doo-dad came from my neighbors necklace.  She brought over a necklace with three rows of these flowers.  She wanted it made into one row and a bracelet with the left over flowers.  She gave me the left over flowers.  I gave this pendent to her, as a thank you.

This was done in Lizbeth, size 20, falling leaves and leaf green med.  I didn't measure it, before I gave it to her.  She loved it.

What About Dogs?

What About Dogs?

Is there anyone in tatland, who has dogs?  I see mostly cats on everyone's blog.  Don't get me wrong, I love cats but I'm allergic to them and the hubby is not fond of them.

Our baby (90 some pounds soak-and-wet) is a yellow lab named Jake.  He just turned 10.  He's definitely not the brightest light bulb, but he is a lover.  He's afraid of the ice and is a freezy-cat.

Here he is after eating a grilled hot dog.  I had to drag him out on the ice, to go ice fishing.  He's in the security of his sled and sleeping on his favorite pillow.

     Now to the tatting.....

This is one of my earrings (they were too heavy to wear), done in Lizbeth size 20 threads.  It measures 2", not counting the crystal drop.

Water Casting

Water Casting

Water Casting is the result of hot, molten silver being dropped into a beaker of water.  Once the molten silver hits the water, the surrounding water starts to boil.  The boiling water forms bubbles and spheres in the cooling silver.  The result is a unique, one-of-a-kind silver cast.  The silver is 97% pure with trace amounts of copper and zinc (hardens the silver).

 Cascading Water Fall.
1" long on a black, satin cord.

 Fairy:
20 X 30 mm on a black, satin cord.

 Puckering Flower:

 Dove:

Pearl in the Oyster:

Can't Keep Them All

Can't Keep Them All

I'm a Tattasaurus, with a tatting problem...I can't stop tatting.  I just love it!!!  I tat during my morning tea, tat at night, tat while we are on the way to the store, even design patterns when I'm suppose to be sleeping.

A lot of my tatting is given away as gifts and put into Christmas cards, some I sell at my fall craft shows, and a few on West Pine Creations.  I don't try to make a living at it If I sell a piece, great...that means I can buy another ball(s) of STRING!!

On those rare occasions, I can't part with a piece of tatting.  That's what happened with this pair of earrings.  They started out as a single pendent and ended up as pair of changeable earrings.  They are tatted with pearl cotton #12 on an old pair of clip earrings.  The clips were glued on and easily removed.  The earrings also double as a pendent.

Here's the link for the items for sale:  West Pine Creations.

There was also a pendent, I made a little while back that I had a hard time parting with.  You can't keep them all...BUT, since I have the earrings, I need a matching necklace.  So, I kept the necklace and working on a matching bracelet.........I need the set.
